Manual Therapy at Elite Chiropractic and Recovery
Graston Technique (Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)
The Graston Technique uses specially designed stainless steel instruments to gently detect and treat areas of scar tissue, adhesions, and soft tissue restriction. By applying controlled pressure and specific strokes along the muscle, tendon, or fascia, our clinicians can identify problem areas that may be harder to feel by hand alone — then break up the restrictions that are limiting your movement and contributing to pain.
Benefits of Graston Technique:
- Breaks down scar tissue and adhesions that restrict movement
- Improves blood flow and accelerates the body’s natural healing response
- Reduces chronic pain associated with overuse injuries (like tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, or IT band syndrome)
- Restores normal tissue texture and flexibility
- Often produces faster results than manual technique alone
- Complements stretching and strengthening for longer-lasting improvement
- Graston Technique is especially effective for chronic, nagging conditions — the kind of tightness or pain that hasn’t responded well to rest or general stretching.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is a gentle, hands-on technique that targets the fascia — the connective tissue web that surrounds and supports your muscles, joints, and organs throughout your body. When fascia becomes tight or restricted (from injury, poor posture, repetitive strain, or prolonged inactivity), it can pull on surrounding structures and create pain far from where the actual restriction lives. Our clinicians apply sustained, gentle pressure to these restricted areas, allowing the fascia to release and the surrounding tissue to move more freely.
Benefits of Myofascial Release:
- Relieves tension and tightness that ordinary stretching can’t reach
- Improves circulation and flexibility
- Reduces pain that seems to “travel” or doesn’t match a specific injury site
- Restores fuller, more comfortable range of motion
- Supports better posture and body mechanics
- Helps the body move as one connected system, rather than isolated parts
- Because fascia connects the entire body, myofascial release is often used to address pain patterns that persist even after the “obvious” injury has healed.
